Tim Edey

BBC ALBA/Scotland Best Traditional musician 2020
BBC Radio Two Musician of the year 2012 (BBC R2 FOLK AWARDS)

Tim Edey

Tim needs no introduction to lovers of folk, roots and Celtic music, either as a performer in his own right, a go-to musician for the likes of The Chieftains, Sharon Shannon, and Capercaillie, or his collaborations with a range of friends, such as renowned Scottish piper Ross Ainslie and harmonica player Will Pound, plus legends such as Mike McGoldrick and Dougie McLean. Receiving a BBC Radio Folk Award 2012 and winning the BBC Scotland Musician of the Year in 2020 are just two of his many accolades and confirmation of his standing in the industry.

Widely regarded as a truly world class musician on both guitar and melodeon, Tim’s performances are special, not just for his musical virtuosity but also his effervescent performances, engaging personality and a sense of fun. As an instinctive musician, he is also happy to lead sessions, responding to whatever tunes, reels, jigs, or songs people choose to bring.

Tim is in demand, not just in the UK and Ireland – but also across the world – either solo or in collaboration with a dazzling array of musicians. He has already made a success of his Celtic Christmas – with a series of dates arranged through November and December – delivering his own take on seasonal favourites as well as introducing lesser-known items and his own compositions. Bookings are already being taken as he prepares to repeat the exercise in 2024.

Tim is available for solo dates from February to April, then he will be looking for festival bookings throughout the season before returning for a further Celtic Christmas end to 2024. In between, he will be touring Canada, Ireland, Switzerland and France – so sign him up while you can!

Tim is equally happy performing his solo gigs, festival appearances and house concerts, as well as his collaborative.
