Renowned for adding lyricism and a huge spiritual presence to Merry Hell – Bob’s ever smiling persona is both infectious and endearing in equal measure. Besides his enormous contribution to the band’s onstage presence, his true superpower lies in the quality of his songwriting, where he addresses both his social concerns as well as observations and experiences of interpersonal relationships. His words can be enormously powerful, hugely insightful and emotionally both tender and raw.
Bob’s solo appearances offer the opportunity to experience his songs in their most basic form – as they were written and brought to the band – just a man, his ideas, his guitar and occasional harmonica – he may be able to captivate from the largest of stages but there is great power in the intimacy of his lone performances, offering greater insight into the world from which they emerged. Bob may nail his colours to the mast but they are multi-hued and nuanced, crafted from within, as the world is viewed through his unique lens.
Bob often shares the bill with his partner, the multi-award winning performance poet, Laura Taylor, who adds her own phenomenal wordsmithery to proceedings.
